Operation Encompass

Our school is part of Operation Encompass, which is a national scheme that operates jointly between schools and Staffordshire Police.

If you are worried about the domestic abuse that your child has witnessed, come to school and talk to us. We can offer you a safe, non-judgmental space to talk about your child's life experiences and consider ways we can support, as well as other services that may be able to support them.

Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has experienced domestic abuse. Information is sent directly to the Headteacher who may need to liaise with the police/child protection services. We will be able to use information that has been shared with us, in confidence, to ensure that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families.

As a school, we have ensured that members of our staff, are aware of the guidance around Operation Encompass procedures, allowing us to then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to support the child/ren in our care. The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 identifies children who experience domestic abuse as victims of domestic abuse in their own right. We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils, and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved. Operation Encompass has proved very effective in providing appropriate support in a timely manner. If you would like some more information about how Operation Encompass operates and the benefits, you can view it online at https://www.operationencompass.org or you would be very welcome in school to discuss further with Mrs Fraser. We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our children, and we believe this initiative is extremely beneficial and supportive for all of those involved.
